As the New Year gets under way, the majority of us are already planning our list of promises we wish to fulfill during the next 12 months, I know I am! However, unfortunately many studies have proven that very few of us carry out those good intentioned resolutions.
The onset of a new year often offers hope for us all to put the past behind us and make a fresh start with new goals and ambitions for the coming 365 days. Sadly, the majority of us generally end up missing the mark, starting off with great intentions and then somewhere along the line getting lost. Below are some great tips to help you to have a better chance of achieving those cherished goals.
1. Write Them Down
It is easy to say to yourself and friends I plan this year on doing xyz, however the truth is if you jot them down and post them in a place which you see visually on a daily basis then your chances of success are significantly increased. One great way of doing this is to use memo note fridge magnets, simply jot down your key goals in order of priority and every time you visit the fridge you will have a constant visual reminder of the goals you set yourself.
2. Commit yourself and your time
The majority of people fail to hit their target resolutions due to a lack of commitment. If one of your goals is to cut out on those mid-morning confectionery binges to remain fit and healthy, then do your utmost to achieve this. Take each day at a time and count every successful day as one more day closer to the winning line.
3. Set Specific And Realistic Goals
We are all guilty of this mistake, setting unrealistic goals. I have not run two miles for ten years but if this year my goal is to win the London Marathon, this is crazy and as the weeks and months go by and this original goal becomes clearly unobtainable we basically give up. Set a target that pushes you but one which is obtainable and work out a step by step plan to how you are going to get to the end goal with milestone achievable goals in between.
4. Remind Yourself
Many people have found one highly successful way to remind themselves of their goals is to jot them down on a sticky note and then post them on the bedroom door, mirror or even on the car dashboard. You could even post these handy memo notes on the side of your computer to act as a constant reminder. Whichever option works best for you these may seem very simple ideas but in practice they have proven to work.
5. Get Support
It is always exceptionally tough when trying to tackle a problem alone, so why not encourage your friends and family to help motivate you through your challenge, as the saying goes ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’. There will always be tough times along the way, however this is exactly the time when your dearest and nearest can help.
Ultimately though it will boil down to your own motivation, dedication and desire to succeed, but come next December, when you have tackled your demons you can celebrate with the top promotional gifts of your choice for a job well done and one which you will surely be proud of.
