In the current economic climate, many people are probably evaluating their academic and career decisions. Some, may even have come to the conclusion that they’d like to switch careers. But how do you go about doing this?
A great way to switch careers is through an MBA, this is because of the amazing MBA internship opportunities available.
Take Dominik Adamus, for example, he managed to get an internship at Property Solutions through the University of Bath’s Careers Office as part of his final project. His brief was to optimize customer value propositions and create a marketing strategy and he did this so well that he was offered a permanent job as key account manager working alongside the CEO. Of his experience, he says, “I have completely different experiences now, managing a strong team of four and I’m far more involved at a strategic level.”
Likewise, Sara Mojdehi was also hired by the company she did an internship with. During her time at MIP Politecnino Di Milano, she interned at top management consulting firm AT Kearney and impressed them enough to be hired after she graduated. She chose MIP specifically because the professional experience it offered. “I had a scholarship for Boston University but I wanted to do an MBA somewhere I could work. I didn’t want to waste more time.”
Michael Allen, on the other hand, graduated from Davidson College, North Carolina, with a degree in Literature, Art and Languages but while pursuing an MBA at Duke’s Fuqua Business School, he managed to get a summer internship at Deloitte as an associate working in healthcare. Deloitte is a big recruiter of Fuqua students and there were more than 20 Fuqua MBAs working there during his internship. Experiencing management consultancy for the first time has helped him to realize how much he enjoys it.
All of these MBA students have had their careers shaped by the internships they did at business school. None of these internships would have been available to them had they not done an MBA. So, if you’re looking for a good internship and a career change consider doing an MBA.
