What’s in a name or even more importantly…what’s in a logo? Well, there is definitely something to this little symbol that companies choose to help identify their businesses. This one little symbol can be quite simple and yet can also have an impact like never before. Perhaps this is because people think in images and not words or perhaps it is the old addage that a picture is worth a thousand words? Either way there is definitely something to be said for a business logo and the difference between one that wows and one that doesn’t…well, can be difficult to determine.
Of course all good logos do seem to have one thing in mind and that is that they are easy to read and have a simplicity to them. Honestly, there is reasoning behind this since it is easier to duplicate or create a similar logo when there are many different aspects to change a simpler logo helps to prevent other competitors from misleading your customers or creating a forgery of your trademark. While it is illegal for other companies to create an exact replica of the logo that you have registered, creating one that is similar enough to deceive is still within a company’s right to do. This is why it is ever so important to make sure that you create a logo that will be too simple to copy.
It is also important to make sure that your logo has eye appeal for a majority of the community and therefore no matter how tempting you should make sure that you don’t use anything that may be misconstrued or that will cause a problem for anyone. This would include any political, religious, or racial views that differ from the mainstream, except in cases where these views might directly pertain to the nature of the cause or business that you are representing.
Color can also be a helpful way to attract attention and even though you don’t want to use too many colors that could distract from your actual logo, you will find that using different colors, especially different combinations can really help to create added attention and really make people take notice of your logo. Designing a business logo is not something that everyone is truly capable of and therefore if you are less than creative or in a situation where you are just simply unsure of how it is to create the best possible representation of your business, then you may want to consult with an advertising or marketing advisor or even someone in the art field to have them help you design the perfect visual representation of your business.
