Companies across the globe are still investing in personal protective equipment. Yes, the pandemic is slowly subsiding, but it’s still far from over. And even if we set the pandemic aside, there’s always a risk of infection or disease at the workplace, so having some sort of protection is a good idea.
In short, there’s no denying that we ought to provide PPE to our employees and clients. But should we brand it, and why? Well, this article is here to help us answer that very question. We will provide our readers with 4 important reasons behind the use of branded PPEs in 2023.
Increasing Brand Awareness
Like any other brand, we want to have as many eyes on us as possible. Normally, we would do that through viral marketing, i.e. using social media and influencers, as well as word-of-mouth. But we can also use PPE for viral marketing (no pun intended), and we can do it incredibly efficiently.
Imagine putting a company logo on a face mask or a bottle of hand sanitiser. That mask will be something that the client will wear everywhere, from public transportation to their own workplace. And if dozens of people see our logo and company details on that mask, they will want to contact us. Alternatively, the client themselves might talk about our company and use the PPE items as examples of our quality standards. In short, it’s a strategy that will always work.
Improving Brand Perception
Brand perception is everything, and we must maintain it as often as possible. PPE items will definitely help us in that regard, considering their very nature. For example, if we sell PPE items to clients, we send a clear message that we care about their safety and health, especially during times of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, if we provide durable, reusable masks with company logos, we will appear more professional than brands that provide single-use masks. Reusable items don’t become litter, and one mask, if carefully taken care of, will remain in use for years. Plus, there’s the question of aesthetics. While both types of masks provide protection, a reusable cotton mask simply looks better than a disposable one.
Making Our Brand Stand Out
Let’s say that our brand has to share space with a few others. For example, if we’re in the contracting business, our workers will be doing their part of the job alongside contractors from other companies. Supervisors will keep an eye on both groups, but will ultimately decide on who they work with in the future based on performance.
Now, how can they tell which group does better than the other? Why, through the use of masks, of course. If our employees wear our branded PPE, people are likely to notice and associate their work output with our brand. It’s a combination of viral marketing and utilising the situation to our benefit. Furthermore, if our team wears masks and the others don’t, we will signal to the onlookers that we care about safety and security above all else.
Employee Satisfaction
When we talk about employee satisfaction, we’re really discussing three different things:
- Feeling of safety
- A sense of belonging
- A sense of being valued for the hours put in.
Let’s go over them one by one. Safety is absolutely key, and if our employees don’t feel secure during a crisis, they won’t operate at full capacity. That’s especially true during the pandemic, where widespread panic can seriously damage a business’s bottom line. Therefore, if we provide our workers with hi-vis vests, earbuds, and wet wipes, we will let them know just how much we value their physical and mental health.
Next, there’s the sense of belonging to a team instead of just being a low-end worker. Employees want to feel like their position is secure, and that their company is willing to accept them as one of its own. More importantly, there will be more cohesion between colleagues if they all get the same treatment from the management.
Finally, we have to let our workers know how much their efforts and achievements mean to us. By investing in pricy PPE gifts and equipment, we’re letting them know that they’re not wasting hours of work on us. Instead, they’re just as valued and important as any other member of the company.

Branding PPE for Success
PPE, though vital, is ultimately part of branded merch, just like stationery, cutlery, apparel, and tech. If we market it well, we can use it to promote our brand and increase our userbase while retaining the current clients and employees for the foreseeable future.
