It’s a New Year, and with it comes all of the predictions for new trends. For 2016, the marketing trends on the horizon are exciting, to say the least. We have new innovation and a lot of changes and development in our future. Here are 5 big ones for this year:

  1. Oculus Rift: Virtual Reality marketing to a captive audience. Oculus Rift is the new virtual reality system that will be launched this year. With it, comes a whole new generation of gamers and a new platform with all new marketing capabilities to go along with the newest in virtual reality technology. This is new ground here and we will no doubt be talking about this throughout the year and long into the future.
  2. Snapchat: Many marketers have been on the fence about this social platform. Some feel strongly that it will become the new standard is social media marketing; others feel that it is just a phase and not a viable way to reach target customers. Because this platform means real-time marketing and is social media, it has the potential to grow and become an important marketing tool and way to reach the younger generation of consumers, also known as the hard to reach and fickle Millennials Market.
  3. Search with continue to brand out beyond the search engines. The whole search engine marketing landscape has been in constant flux for many years now. Google has diversified and customised the search experience. Now, get ready for more search options from social platforms. New search technology combined with instant buy buttons, chat features, and more will teach average consumers advancements in technology. Educated tech consumers always bring about new change to the market.
  4. Internet of the Things. All of the new marketing trends we have outlined today are game changers. But, Internet of Things (or IoT) is the biggest game changer of them all. As more and more everyday objects “go online” the data implications and technology growth will lead the way to a whole new way we market to the masses and the mass consumers will have new options and new technology.
  5. Age of the Consumer. All roads have been leading to the consumer. This year is finally the year that a revolution will take place as more technology and more power will be put into the hands of consumers. The companies that lead the way by putting the customer first will emerge as the winners and companies that do not will fall by the wayside.
