In any community it is the businesses that give back that get a majority of the attention. Customers feel good when they feel that they are supporting a company that wants the community to succeed. If you are running a smaller business then it is good to find smaller ways to give back to the community. Unlike the big retail chains like Asda you probably won’t be able to give thousands of pounds to the local school district or half a million pounds to the United Way but this doesn’t mean that you can’t find your own ways to give back to the community.
This could mean purchasing some promotional gifts for a local homeless shelter, girl or Boy Scout group, or even donating some to a local sports team. You can also get involved in your community by participating in some community events like a festival, trick or treat event, or holiday craft fair. This can be a fun way to spread cheer and the word about your business.
Make sure no matter when and where you choose to participate that you get your logo out there on display. You can use a promotional banner, sign, or printed tablecloths, you can dress your employees up in logo printed promotional t-shirts, or you can even just choose to hand out promotional goodies to passersby. The most important thing to remember is that this is an opportunity to expose people to your business information and to associate your business with good happenings around the community.
The more community based you make your business the further you will go in the community you are in. People love a friendly community business so get out there and have some fun. The more events you participate in the more exposure you will get for your business so make the most of every opportunity to get out and make some connections.
